The 87th TIF enters the final stretch

The 87th TIF is entering this year’s final stretch and is inviting people to spend the final three days touring its pavilions, becoming part of its experience, and strengthening TIF-HELEXPO’s initiative to support those affected by the floods in Thessaly and the fires in Evros with their visit.

Nine exhibition sections, 1500 exhibitors, 18 international participations, Bulgaria as the Honoured Country, and a wealth of concerts set the scene at the 87th TIF.

Tonight at 21:30 on the Music Events Live stage, Kostas Makedonas and Eleni Tsaligopoulou will perform with Christiana Galiatsou. Yesterday, Glykeria and Melina Aslanidou (with Charis Makris) performed on the same stage and took the audience on a melodic journey through their songs.

Today at the pavilion of the Honoured Country (13), Bulgaria, from 17:00 to 20:00 visitors will have the opportunity to to attend a popular musical programme that includes children playing bagpipes, folk songs, and the performance of popular dances.

The TIF 5×5 Football Tournament being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs with “No to violence” as its main message, is being organised in partnership with AC Panorama. Today (19:00 to 21:00), matches will be held between executives-teams from major companies, as well as organisations participating in the TIF.

The first fashion show of Thessfashion will be held today at 18:00, with men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, organised by the Thessaloniki Chamber of Small & Medium-Sized Industries in pavilion 16.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the time of the 55th TIF RALLY will have finally arrived. At 19:00 the race will start in Aristotelous Square, while on Sunday at 18:00 the cars will cross the finish line where they started, and trophies will be awarded.

The 87th TIF becomes the focus of political and economic developments during its last four days

Glykeria and Melina Aslanidou tonight at 21:30 at Music Events Live

The programme of events of the 87th TIF is being further enriched during its final four days, starting tonight and concluding on Sunday 17 September.

Cultural and art events coexist with business and educational activities, all taking place at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre.

Last night, visitors to the TIF had the opportunity to enjoy the award winning musical tribute ‘One Night Of Tina’ at the Music Events Live stage. The show has travelled with its original West End cast to 26 countries and has enchanted thousands of audience members.

Tonight, the Music Events Live stage will welcome Glykeria and Melina Aslanidou, who will take us on a musical journey through the songs that established them, while Charis Makris will also be joining them. Visitors can attend the concerts with their Fair entry ticket.

At the same time, fashion will shine tomorrow from 18:00 to 21:00, with the men’s and women’s fashion and accessories show, while two days later, on Sunday, children’s fashion will take the to the stage at 12:00. Pavilion 16 will be the focal point of all these fashion shows, where the Thessaloniki Chamber of Small & Medium-Sized Industries (VETH) is organising for the first time a special thematic unit on clothing, footwear, and accessories, Thessfashion, with the participation of important names in the world of fashion. There will be about 40 enterprises participating in this original venture by VETH, which has been placed under the auspices of the Region of Central Macedonia and is being organised with the support of Elevate Fashion.

At the same time, the 2nd Collectibles’ EXPO 2023 will be held from today until Sunday at the 87th TIF, for traders and collectors to exhibit, exchange, and promote collections and artefacts. The main exhibits concern coins, bank notes, stamps, medals, military medals, post cards, photographs, old books, toys, books, watches, documents, archive material, vinyl records, telephone cards, and any other type of collectibles and works of art. The 2nd EXPO includes pavilions for the exhibition of artefacts, as well as commercial pavilions with items for sale, while it is being held in the Pavilion of the Nations (No 6).

Furthermore, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September, from 12:00 to 19:00, in a specially created space between pavilions 10 and 13, visitors will have the chance to learn about the sustainability, safety, and quality of rice cultivation and rice products, and try 12 unique recipes based on European rice, produced in Greece and Spain. These events are being held by the Agricultural Cooperative of Thessaloniki (EASTH) and Consejo Regulador de la DOP Arroz de Valencia (Valencia PDO Rice Regulatory Authority), in the framework of the EURICE European programme, ‘Information and Promotion Actions aimed at highlighting the sustainable aspect of rice production in Greece and Spain’.

In the Honoured Country pavilion, which this year is hosting Bulgaria, visitors can watch a puppet show by the National Academy of Theatre and Cinema of Bulgaria at 17:00, the National Academy of Music’s Jazz Band at 19:00, and the CSKA Club of Sport Acrobatics at 20:15.

Visitor numbers at the Fair and people’s interest are gradually increasing, as the 87th TIF, a dynamic and multi-faceted event, is a pole of attraction for people of all ages and all preferences.

TIF-HELEXPO is standing by the victims throughout the country experiencing extremely difficult times, and calls on everyone to visit the 87th TIF to support the initiative of the National Exhibition Agency.

Yesterday, during yet another enchanting evening, Alkistis Protopsalti captivated the audience at the TIF ‘Music Events Live’ performing top hits from her rich repertoire.

The 55th TIF RALLY to take place on 16 and 17 September

The 55th TIF RALLY, one of the most historic races in Greece, is being organised by the Racing Club of Thessaloniki (AOTH) on 16 and 17 September.

This year’s edition of the TIF RALLY includes 4 special stages on asphalt, with a total length of 89.1 racing kilometres.

During today’s press conference on the TIF RALLY, the President of the Racing Club of Thessaloniki, Mr Sokratis Tsolakidis, noted that the TIF RALLY is one of the top races in Greece, second only to the ACROPOLIS RALLY, and thanked TIF-HELEXPO for its long-standing support.

In turn, the CEO of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr Kyriakos Pozrikidis, stressed that what makes the race so vibrant are the contestants, the crews and the audience, adding that the exhibition agency is doing what anyone would do, i.e. it is supporting a city institution in the field of motor sports.

The 87th TIF is heating up

The TIF ‘Music Events Live’ start tonight, at 21:30, with Alkistis Protopsalti

The 87th TIF is heating up, calling on people to visit the Fair and discover its multifaceted character which combines entrepreneurship, innovation, technology and entertainment. In fact, tonight at 21:30 the TIF ‘Music Events Live’ begin tonight at the YMCA Arch, with Alkistis Protopsalti being the first to take the stage.

For the first time, visitors can download the HELEXPO App, allowing for an easy visit to the 87th TIF and, after just a few clicks, access to kiosks, exhibitors, exhibits and parallel events, so as not to miss any Fair experiences. By using the “How to get there” map on the application, visitors can search for exhibits which interest them and find them in a just few digital steps. Additionally, B2B meetings between Greek and Bulgarian businesses started being held yesterday in a specially configured area in Pavilion 13, where Bulgaria, this year’s honored country, is being hosted. Using a special platform organised by TIF-HELEXPO and the Federation of Industries of Greece (SVE), 150 Greek and Bulgarian companies from the fields of technology – IT – AI, construction, food technology, energy, circular economy and cosmetics have already booked appointments. Companies interested in participating can now book their appointments on the spot. B2B meetings will be held until Thursday.

Every day, from 17:00 to 21:00, visitors can attend a rich schedule of events at the Honored Country’s pavilion. Today, the Sofia Philharmonic string quartet and Ballet Arabesque will set the tone.

There is also high traffic at the ‘Akademic’ thematic event in Pavilion 14, which has become a meeting point for the educational and research community. Yesterday afternoon, among other events, a meeting and discussion/panel took place between the rectors of the National Technical University of Athens and the Technical University of Sofia, on the occasion of the participation of Bulgaria in TIF as the Honored Country, and an academic cooperation agreement was signed between the two Universities.

The exhibition ‘Thessaloniki through its collections’ in Pavilion 6, hosting the collections of well-known collectors concerning the city and its monuments, has also stirred great interest. The exhibition, organised by TIF-HELEXPO in collaboration with the company ‘mcsalonica’, includes stamps, philatelic history, coins, banknotes, medals, documents, books, maps, paintings, engravings, clocks and watches, shares, advertisements and many other items concerning the city.

During the 87th TIF, visitors have the opportunity to take part in an Instagram photo contest titled “Unforgettable clicks!” and win two airline tickets. The 87th TIF commences – Opening of the pavilion of Honoured Country Bulgaria

At a difficult moment for Greece and with everyone’s thoughts with those struck by the catastrophic flooding, the 87th TIF has been welcoming visitors since this morning. The Fair will make its mark on the life and economy of Thessaloniki over the next nine days, with 1500 exhibitors, 18 international participations, and Bulgaria as the Honoured Country.

The major prospects of further strengthening the ties between Greece and Bulgaria were underlined at today’s opening of Bulgaria’s Honoured Country pavilion by Minister of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria, Mr Bogdan Bogdanov, and Minister of Finance of Bulgaria, Mr Assen Vassilev, along with the Minister of National Economy and Finance of Greece, Mr Kostis Chatzidakis. Also present at the opening was the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria, Ms Zaritsa Dinkova. The Bulgarian participation consists of 60 enterprises from sectors such as energy, circular economy, industry, innovation-technology, food, transports-logistics, cosmetics, tourism, primary sector, packaging, and services, and it will cover 2600 m2 in pavilion 13.

“For Bulgaria it is a great honour to be the Honoured Country at the 87th TIF, while it is also a major recognition for our country and for the excellent political and economic relationships between Bulgaria and Greece”, mentioned Mr Bodganov, while he also stressed that both countries struggled over the past two days due to natural disasters and the flooding they caused.

He also referred to bilateral trade relations, noting that they reached record levels in 2022, at more than 5.9 billion Euros, an

increase of approximately 30% in comparison to 2021, as well as to investment relations, stressing that there are more than 18,000 Greek companies present in Bulgaria. During his speech at the opening, he presented the most important companies that are part of the Bulgarian participation at the 87 TIF, which include new technologies, innovation, energy, and education.

“We are strong when we work together”, stressed Mr Vassilev, who emphasised strengthening collaboration between the two countries for the creation of new prospects.

“The opening of the pavilion of our friend and neighbour Bulgaria, this year’s Honoured Country at the 87th TIF, is taking place under exceptionally difficult conditions for the two countries”, mentioned Mr Chatzidakis, who stressed that Greece is facing the consequences of an extreme, unprecedented weather phenomenon, which, unfortunately, is leaving behind lost off life and unparalleled destruction. “Right now our thoughts are with the victims and their families, as well as with the residents of all the regions that experienced and are still experiencing in the most tragic way the consequences of this tragic phenomenon”, he stressed.

In reference to the TIF, he noted that it is an integral part of the history of Thessaloniki, the modern history of Greece, and of the overall effort for greater openness in Thessaloniki. “In recent years, the Fair has succeeded in securing an upgraded role in attracting exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. The continuously increasing number of visitors and exhibitors proves this and the institution of the Honoured Countries contributed to it”, he pointed out. Lastly, he stressed that during these difficult moments for all of us, Greece and Bulgaria are still finding ways to collaborate and strengthen their bilateral relations, while he characterised the neighbouring country as a very important partner for Greece.

A mulithematic 87th TIF

Nine thematic events, Greece and Entrepreneurship, Akademia, Regional Greece, Circular Economy, Gastronomy-Nutrition, Digital Greece Startups, Public Bodies-Organisations, Cosmos-International Participations, and Furniture-Household Equipment, are inviting people to discover them at the 87th TIF.

There will be 18 international state participations this year, including Bulgaria as the Honoured Country. In fact, South Korea, Moldova, and Thailand are participating for the first time, while the other countries are Cyprus, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Uruguay, Ukraine, Armenia, Iran, Italy, Poland, Serbia, India, and Nepal.

The Union of Hellenic Chambers will be dynamically present with 49 Chambers and 382 SMEs from all over Greece. 87th TIF: 1500 exhibitors, 18 international participations, Bulgaria as the Honoured Country with 60 enterprises

A wealth of economic, cultural and sports events One concert every evening

From 9 to 17 September, the 87th TIF will be at the centre of the domestic political and economic scene, with 1500 exhibitors, 18 international participations, Bulgaria as the Honoured Country, 382 SMEs via 49 Chambers, and nine thematic events.

Greece and Entrepreneurship, Akademia, Regional Greece, Circular Economy, Gastronomy-Nutrition, Digital Greece Startups, Public Bodies-Organisations, Cosmos-International Participations, and Furniture-Household Equipment, will all present the latest developments in each sector separately, and the most modern market options.

There will be 18 international state participations this year, including Bulgaria as the Honoured Country. In fact, South Korea, Moldova, and Thailand are participating for the first time, while the other countries are Cyprus, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Uruguay, Ukraine, Armenia, Iran, Italy, Poland, Serbia, India, and Nepal.

The Bulgarian participation consists of 60 enterprises from sectors such as energy, circular economy, industry, innovation-technology, food, transports-logistics, cosmetics, tourism, primary sector, packaging, and services, and it will cover 2600 m2 in pavilion 13.

Interest by Bulgarian enterprises in the TIF was high from the very beginning, and in this framework they will hold an estimated 1000+ b2b meetings with Greek enterprises, which will be organised by the exhibition body and the Federation of Greek Industries (FING). At the same time, there will be the highest possible institutional representation in the Bulgarian participation at the 87th TIF, with the Bulgarian President, the Bulgarian Prime Minister, and many members of the cabinet of the Bulgarian government attending.

The Bulgarian presence will be framed by a wealth of side events, spearheaded by culture, as well as the economic relationships between Greece and Bulgaria. These include the Greek-Bulgaria Colloquium on Monday 11 September at ‘I. Vellidis’ Congress Centre, which will examine a number of fields of common interest for the two countries, starting a dialogue on important matters, such as ports and infrastructure, technological innovation, and digital connectivity, energy, and circular tourism.

Visitors to the Bulgarian pavilion will have the opportunity to watch the presentation of Supercomputer, a world class petascale computer, while also being scheduled are presentations and shows on cutting edge technology in pharmaceuticals, robotics, and virtual reality, as well as educational actions on new methods of learning STEM. There will also be many cultural events organised by Bulgaria, with music, theatre, and dance performances.

The Union of Hellenic Chambers will be dynamically present with 49 Chambers and 382 SMEs from all over Greece. Four Chambers will be attending with separate participations; namely, the Professional Chamber of Thessaloniki, the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Small & Medium-Sized Industries (VETH). In fact, the Thessaloniki Chamber of Small & Medium-Sized Industries (VETH) is organising a special thematic unit on clothing, footwear, and accessories at pavilion 16, titled Thessfashion, with the participation of important names in the world of fashion. There will be 40 enterprises participating in VETH’s original venture, covering an area of 1600 m2.

Other thematic events that should be noted include:

-The companies participating in the thematic exhibition event on Circular Economy will present pioneering heating and cooling systems, specialised applications and products, as well as interesting options in modern construction. The thematic exhibition will cover an area of 3000 m2, indoors and outdoors, with more than 55 participations.

-The AKADEMIA thematic event on education-research-innovation (Pavilion 14) is the meeting point for the education community. Thirteen private and public higher education institutions will present new curricula, innovative graduate (Bachelor), post graduate (Master), and doctoral (PhD) programmes, as well as Study programmes that follow the philosophy of Open and Distance Education.

The 87th TIF will present a rich and multifaceted programme of events, starting even before the formal opening of the Fair. Thus, the Fair will welcome the 3rd Economist Congress on 7 and 8 September at the ‘I.Vellidis’ Congress Centre, titled ‘Greece’s new roadmap after the election – Building dependable partnerships in the region’. The opening session will be addressed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis and former Prime Minister of France D. de Villepin, while Prime Minister of Bulgaria Nikolai Denkov will speak at the closing session.

Stand-out events on the schedule of the 87th TIF also include the Congress on Natural Disaster Management titled ‘Protecting life-Building resilience’, which will be held on Wednesday 13 September at the ‘I. Vellidis’ Congress Centre, organised by the Economist in partnership with TIF-HELEXPO.

Another singular event this year, is the ‘Thessaloniki through collections’ exhibition, which will host collections of renowned collectors on the theme of Thessaloniki and its monuments, organised by TIF-Helexpo and MC Salonica, which will be open to the public throughout the duration of the 87th TIF at the Pavilion of the Nations (6). On the last four days of the 87th TIF (14-17 September), the 2nd Collectibles’ EXPO 2023 will be held at the same pavilion by TIF-HELEXPO in partnership with MC Salonica, on exchanging and promoting collections and artefacts by traders and collectors.

Sports will also be in attendance at the 87th TIF. From 11 to 15 September, the ‘TIF 5X5 Football Tournament’ will be held, with

the message ‘No to violence’. Daily 5X5 football matches will be held on a pitch to be set up inside the TIF. The tournament will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, and it is being organised in partnership with AC Panorama, and it will include matches between Thessaloniki Academies for children aged 8 to 12,

matches between journalists and artists, directors, camera operators from Thessaloniki, matches between veteran footballers from Thessaloniki teams (PAOK-Aris-Iraklis-Apollon Kalamarias), matches between girls’ teams aged 12-15 from Thessaloniki Academies, and matches between teams of executives from major companies and organisations participating in the TIF.

At the same time, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas is being presented as part of a major cultural tribute under the Auspices of the NCGW (National Council of Greek Women) and with the support of TIF-HELEXPO. The tribute to Maria Callas ‘A LIFE LIKE A FAIRYTALE’ is being curated and presented by artist Marina Petri.

In addition, a musical celebration will take place every night at the 87th TIF, aiming to get the Thessaloniki public partying, with major names and hits from the domestic music scene, with Music Events Live. The first ever premier in Greece of the Tina Turner Tribute Show, coming to Thessaloniki from London’s West End, will also take place as part of the daily concerts.

On the TIF’s second weekend, 16 and 17 September, the 55th TIF Rally will be held by the Racing Club of Thessaloniki.

The 87th TIF includes dozens more interesting, entertaining, and educational events, and it invites the audience to discover them. In fact, HELEXPO App will also be launched. This useful tool will help visitors stay up to date with everything happening at the Fair. The application is an initiative of the Ministry of Digital Governance.

The 87th TIF is also part of TIF-HELEXPO’s Zero Waste Expo initiative, with 20 recycling spots inside the exhibition centre for organic, recyclable, and non-recyclable waste.

“Bulgaria has been at our side since 1926, when it participated in the 1st TIF”, as pointed out in the context of the Press Conference held in view of the opening of the 87th TIF by the President of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr Tasos Tzikas, who underlined what a great honour it is for the exhibition body to welcome its neighbour as an Honoured Country. He also characterised it a strategic partner of Greece and predicted that its participation will make a positive impression on the investment and entrepreneurial relationships of the two countries.

The deputy Minister of the Interior (sector of Macedonia – Thrace), Mr Stathis Konstantinidis, highlighted the TIF’s character as an indicator, a mirror of the political and economical developments in Greece, while he stressed that a brimming and flourishing TIF walks hand in hand and reflects the excellent economic climate in Greece. In reference to the institution of the Honoured Country, he stressed that it too is a means to promote and further strengthen our transnational relations, while in highlighting Bulgaria’s participation, he mentioned that together with Greece, both countries are building strategic relationships of collaboration and trust, and that they are a pole of safety and stability in Southeastern Europe.

“It is an honour to be here 100 years after the first participation”, noted alternate Minister of the Economy and Industry of Bulgaria Nikolay Pavlov, who stressed that it is a recognition of his country’s role in the region, as well as an enormous opportunity for Bulgaria to present itself and all the projects it is planning for the future. He made the commitment that the Bulgarian side will do whatever possible to reinforce Greek-Bulgarian relations and to create new entrepreneurial and investment opportunities, and he invited people to visit the Bulgarian pavilion.

The Governor of Central Macedonia, Mr Apostolos Tzitzikostas, characterised the TIF as a celebration for the city, stressing that in recent years the Fair found its footing again, and regained its commercial and entrepreneurial character. He also noted that the Region is continuing to invest in its close partnership with the TIF, which is bearing results.

The Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr Konstantinos Zervas, mentioned the ambitions of the city and the steps that have been taken with regards to its development and attractiveness, which are reflected

in the number of exhibitors and visitors to the TIF, while he stressed that over the next 10 days the city is sold out, which is what should be happening all year round.

While presenting the wealth of content of the 87th TIF, TIF-HELEXPO CEO Dr Kyriakos Pozrikidis noted that the Honoured Country is attending this year’s event with a political and entrepreneurial all-star roster, stressing that the country that helped us at the 1st TIF is here again today. He also made special reference to the first ever participations by South Korea, Thailand, and Moldova, to the 382 SMEs participating via chambers, and to the return of textiles, which will be promoted at the VETH event.

In turn, the Vice Chairman of PAPASTRATOS, Mr Iakovos Kargarotos, stressed that for the 6th consecutive year the company is supporting the Thessaloniki International Fair, a landmark institution in Greece’s economic and entrepreneurial activity. “This year’s TIF once again finds us all facing challenges on a national and international level”, he mentioned, adding that, “at PAPASTRATOS we recognise the need for sustainable entrepreneurship and that caring for the environment is more important than ever, so we are consciously choosing to be on the front lines, implementing actions because they are right, and which, since 2017, have led to a total investment of 700 million Euros”.

The great satisfaction of ATHENIAN BREWERY with ‘Nymfi’ being the official TIF beer since May 2019, was expressed by the company’s sponsorship/events area marketing manager, Mr Lazaros Vogiatzoglou, who stressed that it is a beer that is produced in the Sindos factory using 100% Macedonian barley. The 87th TIF presents a multifaceted programme of events

The focus is on culture, the economy, society, technology and sports

The programme of events for the 87th TIF will be multifaceted with a wealth of content, drawing inspiration from culture, the economy, society, technology, and sports, besides its purely exhibition aspect.

Focus will be placed on the participation of Bulgaria as the Honoured Country, framed by a number of events that kick off with the opening of the Bulgarian pavilion, with the participation of renowned musicians the Wladigeroff Brothers and the gold medal-winning Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics team.

Furthermore, during the 87th TIF visitors to the pavilion of the Honoured Country, Bulgaria, will have the opportunity to attend a multithematic programme. This includes the presentation of the Supercomputer, a world class petascale computer, shows on cutting edge technology in pharmaceuticals, robotics, and virtual reality, as well as educational actions on new methods of learning STEM.

In addition, visitors young and old can participate in shows and workshops on crafts and illustration on glass, fabric, and ceramics by the Faculty of Applied Arts of Sofia, Sliven, and Tryavna. Among other things, visitors to the Bulgarian pavilion will have the opportunity to enjoy:

the string quartet of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Frosch string quartet, the National Academy of Music ‘Prof. Pancho Vladigeroc’ jazz band, the renowned Arabesque Ballet, a puppet show by the National Academy of Theatre and Cinema (NAFTA), the CSKA Club of Sport Acrobatics, a children’s musical ensemble with bagpipes, live traditional music, and traditional dance shows.
